What is Vitamin K2 with D3?

New research is focusing on the synergistic relationship between vitamin K2 and vitamin D3, for bone and cardiovascular health.1 A group of naturally occurring and structurally similar, fat-soluble vitamins, vitamin K is essential for the proper utilization of calcium. Through its activation of the protein osteocalcin, vitamin K helps to bind newly absorbed calcium to the mineral matrix in bone. In addition, vitamin K has been found to help maintain bone mineral density by decreasing the activity of osteoclasts, a cell that breaks down the bone matrix.2

Vitamin K also provides critical cardiovascular protection by helping to activate matrix Gla protein (MGP), an inhibitor of circulatory calcification.3, 4 Thus, vitamin K andvitamin D not only share similar qualities but they also act synergistically with one another within the body.5

Immuni-D + K2 utilizes a medium chain triglyceride (MCT) delivery system providing 10 mcg of MenaQ7® PRO, the most widely studied form of vitamin K2 as MK-7, and 1,000 IU of vitamin D3 per serving. Natural medium-chain triglycerides have unique physical properties that allow them to be readily absorbed without additional emulsifying agents. MCTs are a great way to deliver pure, tasteless and odorless liquid vitamin K2 and D3 that combine easily with any beverage.

Overview

While vitamin D has long been known to assist calcium absorption, it is vitamin K, through its carboxylation of osteocalcin, which guides this calcium to bones and prevents their absorption into organs, joint spaces and arteries. Vitamin K occurs in 2 main forms: K1 (phylloquinone), derived from foods such as green leafy vegetables and K2 (menaquinone), which is a group of related compounds differentiated by their side chains. Numerous studies have shown that vitamin K2 is the more bioavailable form of the nutrient7, and more powerfully influences bone building than K1. In addition, though both reach the liver, most of the K1 is used for purposes of coagulation, with little left over to support the body’s needs elsewhere.8

The profoundly different degrees of bioavailability between K1 and K2 is due to their differences in structure; only 10-20% of vitamin K1 that is absorbed from food even reaches the circulation, while the long side-chain of vitamin K2 allows it to bind with fat particles in circulation and facilitate its arrival at soft tissue, bones and arteries. There are two forms of vitamin K2 commonly used in supplements: MK-4 and MK-7. The MK-7 form has been shown to have six times the activity of MK-4 in the blood. MK-7 has also been found to remain in the blood approximately nine times as long as the MK-4 (eight hours versus 72 hours), making it the optimal form of K2.9

The addition of MenaQ7® PRO to this formula is backed by extensive research. Dr. Leon Schurgers, world-renowned expert in vitamin K2 as MK-7 research for cardiovascular and bone health, and his team of research scientists have conducted over 15 clinical trials on MenaQ7® PRO through the University of Maastricht.

Vitamin K Depletion

Although most people consume adequate dietary vitamin K to maintain sufficient blood clotting, most do not consume enough to meet cardiovascular and bone health needs. In fact, approximately 70% of the western population is deficient in vitamin K2. Compromised intestinal absorption can also lead to insufficient K2 levels leaving calcium available to be exported out of bone and into other tissues. Other medications such as antibiotics, cholesterol-lowering medications, and laxatives have also been found to contribute to a deficiency of vitamin K.10

Individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism are prone to restrictive eating patterns, sensory issues, and limited food repertoires.11,12 These issues are linked to poor food intake, and neophobia, which refers to the fear of trying anything new including unknown or unfamiliar foods.11-13 Certain dietary restrictions (e.g., casein- or gluten-free diets) that are used to target behavioral and/or gastrointestinal problems may also contribute to the nutritional vulnerability of adolescents and adults with ADHD or autism.14 This can lead to low vitamin D3 and K2 levels for individuals with these types of disorders.

Bone Health

Building and maintaining healthy bones requires a number of key nutrients including vitamin K, for the proper binding of calcium to the bone matrix. A 2005 study from northern Finland found that those with greater levels of vitamin K-carboxylated osteocalcin had stronger bones than those with lower levels of the protein. A Japanese study found superior bone health among women who were frequent MK-7-rich natto eaters than those who were not.15 Another randomized study which split 172 women into a vitamin K2 group, a vitamin D3 group, a vitamin K2 and D3 group, and a placebo group for two years found that the combination of vitamin D3 and K2 had the most benefits for supporting bone health among the groups.16

Cardiovascular Health and Blood Sugar Balance

Vitamin K plays a key role in supporting the cardiovascular system as well as blood sugar balance already within normal levels. In a large population study, researchers found that those who consumed high amounts of K2 had significantly better cardiovascular health markers compared to those given vitamin K1.17 Studies have also shown vitamin K supports healthy blood sugar metabolism.18,19

Immune Modulation

New evidence also suggests vitamin K plays a central role in balancing immune health. Recent studies have shown that both vitamins D and K impart immune-modulating effects. In the Framingham Offspring Study, one of the longest standing studies on generational health, higher serum levels of vitamins D and K were associated with stronger immune function and a balanced inflammatory response.20, 21

In a 2011 study, vitamin K was also found to suppress various markers of the immune system.22

Brain Health

Vitamin D is a neurosteroid that influences brain development. It promotes cellular formation, cellular development, and calcium signaling as well as neurotrophic and neuroprotective actions.23

It also appears to impact neurotransmission and synaptic plasticity in the brain. Research shows that a vitamin D deficiency is linked to the presence of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism.23,24 Furthermore, supplementation with high servings of vitamin D (e.g., 5000 IU per day) help improve behavioral traits (e.g., social impairments, cognitive deficits) that are typically observed with these types of neurodevelopmental disorders.23, 24

Similarly, low levels of additional micronutrients, particularly vitamin K, are generally observed for children, adolescents, and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, autism).25 Accordingly, supplementation with a multivitamin (e.g., vitamin D3, K2) is recommended for such individuals as micronutrient supplementation heightens the production of neurotransmitters and fatty acids that influence cognition.25, 26 This form of supplementation also targets nutritional insufficiencies and metabolic imbalances from self-restricting diets that are linked to the presence or progression of ADHD and autism. 25, 26

Vitamin K consumption is also described as one of the most significant nutrients for optimal brain health. 25 Therefore, Immuni-D + K2 supplies an optimal serving of essential micronutrients that heighten mental performance for individuals with ADHD and autism.

Worth it!

My son is non verbal in his communication so I have been taking these vitamin capsules as well just to see if any side effects. How I give to my son to avoid any issues: Take with a full meal like lunch or dinner if with breakfast make sure it's a harty meal NOT just fruit or cereal. I use a liquid medicine syringe, open capsule and dump powder into the syringe insert plug with mouth facing up so powder isn't squirted out then I take his juice cup and draw up some apple juice into the syringe hold finger over mouth piece and shake till dissolved remove air bubble then give to him like any other liquid medicine then give him his juice cup to drink right after to avoid after tast. This way I know he got the perfect dose and don't have to worry about him drinking it in a full cup of juice and waisting it because of taste. But these are amazing for him and myself we both sleep better and have a better mood it's definitely worth it. If your child won't drink because of after taste try it this way hopefully this helps other super families love yall. And parents I'm telling you you can also take these vitamins try it. You can get liquid medicine syringe for kiddos at the local pharmacy from the pharmacist.💜

The vitamins are very good. I’ve seen so much improvement in my grandson. I referred the vitamins to at least six people, and I know that they ordered the vitamins for their child.

Calm & Focus review

Since introducing Calm & Focus into our routine, we've observed remarkable changes in our son, who has ADHD. After just two weeks, he became noticeably calmer, more balanced, and more engaged in our conversations. This supplement has been a game-changer for our toddler, and we've made it a consistent part of his daily regimen. We wholeheartedly recommend other parents to try it and witness the positive transformations firsthand.

Unpaid Review

I’ve had my kid taking this particular fish oil because it was the highest concentrated versus the others in the market. I’m really big on reading labels and focusing on product concentrations for quality. My kid has been taking this fish oil since he was about 3yrs old (level 3 ASD severe). He is now 5 (level 2 ASD moderate). He was attending ABA when we started and the therapists there had noticed changes. The other parents had asked me what I was doing and I would always refer this website. I am still purchasing this fish oil and I will continue. I will also add the D3 because kids are germy and we need strong immune systems while in kindergarten. The concentration is higher with MSH’s D3 than others from the natural herb store that I previously purchased. I am a person of numbers and results even considering the negative results for the overall benefit. The quality is worth its price and I alone- approve this message.

I'm seeing results!

I have been giving this probiotic supplement to my boy and it seems to really be helping with his speech. He has been putting words into 5/6 seven word sentences on his own, instead of using echolalia. I will continue using this for sure!

Great product

My son who is autistic has come a long way from using these products. So happy that i decided to take a step forward for his well-being. I share about these products to other parents and they have been impressed with their kid’s challenges and changes that occur each day from being nonverbal and now verbal. My son’s behavior has calm down from him having meltdowns. Thank you!

Super Magnesium Capsules

I bought the magnesium capsules for my son who has autism. He was on magnesium glycinate but it was making him very tired and weepy. These super mag capsules work much better for him. I open the capsule and mix it into his a2 milk. I started taking these too. It really helps with anxiety.

Definitely Helps

My 2 year old son has had issues with constipation and nothing helped until this probiotic powder.

Loving this stuff!

My daughter drinks this every morning in her juice and she has recently become more focused and talkative! She is also a picky eater so giving her this makes me feel better that she is still getting all the vitamins and minerals she needs. 10 stars!!!

Amazing Product

We are only on week 4 of starting the multivitamin mineral plus with our 4 1/2 year old and have seen dramatic improvement not only in his behavior but equally his speaking.
Before starting this supplement our son wasn’t even speaking in short sentences and he couldn’t or wouldn’t answer basic questions. Additionally, his behavior most days was aggressive for no reason even to our pets (our family eats pretty clean but he’s a very picky eater). We had avoided taking him out much because he would act out to others or wreck something for no reason other than being sensory overloaded.
In the last 2 weeks for consecutive days it is literally like multiple “lights” have come on and shifts have happened in his little brain.
I was not expecting to see a change this quickly. A reasonable expectation is at least 4 plus weeks. Not only have my husband and I seen it but we have had multiple friends comment that “something is different.” Last week was also the first time he stayed in his children’s class at church with me getting a call. Needless to say, we are sold and immensely grateful for this product and the Calm & Focus.

We love them!!

Since starting the MySpectrumHeros multivitamin with my 5.5 year old son he’s sleeping better, happier, hasn’t been sick as often, and seems to be even focusing better in school!!

Thank you so much for making these!!!

Definitely helped!

My two year old was struggling with hard stool and constipation for a while, but he has had soft/normal poop every day while taking this product!!! The only time he’s had a hard poop again has been the day he didn’t take the supplement. I’d recommend starting out at a super small dose and working upward to the recommended dose, because the first morning I gave it to my son, he fell asleep at 10am which never happens. The strawberry taste is pleasant. My son is an extremely picky eater and drinker, but I mix this with water and put it in his fruit smoothies and he loves it. It’s sensitive on the stomach and well-tolerated.

Optimistic

I was skeptical to try this with the reviews about the taste as my son is super picky and an always spot when I add things to his liquid or food. It mixed perfectly with a 1/4 cup warm water and then I added his flavor packet and cold water to his sippy cup. He drank it right down. Now it smells awful but I even didn't noticed a taste. We just started 2 days ago because he has slowed down on his normal eating and I also would hope it will help him with the agitation he has started at bedtime.

It really works!!!

My son has ADHD and I certainly didn’t want to put him on any medication related to his ADHD. I accidentally stumbled upon this website whilst looking for alternatives. He has been on focus and calm for almost 5 years and it’s the holy grail, to stay calm, focused and handling his emotions. It has helped to stay focused during class work.
Be patient and believe in your child and it will definitely work.

Game changer

We use in combination with the Calm & Focus and the Multimineral Vitamin. Helps with sleep, calm and his memory. Great for calcium and strengthening his immune system!

Owsum product

I am using this product for two month and its results are miraculous

Game changer!

I feel so much better knowing my son is getting the vitamins and minerals he needs AND that it’s available in capsule form. My son refused the powder because he could taste the flavour and sense the texture. So thankful for this product.

Super Mag!

Great supplement all around! We added this to our grandson’s vitamin regimen for help with focus and concentration during school… seems to be helping!

We love the flexibility!

We love the flexibility of the capsules for my 6 year old son who takes them. He knows how to swallow pills but doesn’t always want to. With the capsule, he can choose each day how he wants to take it. He can either swallow the pill, or we’ll open it up and pour it into yogurt or a smoothie. It’s been helping with his tummy pain!

Great multivitamin

I give my son the multivitamin mineral plus twice a day and it really helps to calm him. It mixes pretty well in his juice. I add a tiny bit of room temperature water to his cold grape juice because I find the powder mixes a lot better. This vitamin actually calms him down a lot to the point where I know my son must be missing important minerals due to his autism and gi problems. I will continue to use this product because it woks. Thank you all at my spectrum hero’s for providing great products especially in powder and liquid forms 😊

Amazing results

We started this to help heal my daughter’s gut. She was having difficulty going regularly. After about a month of regularly taking this, she started going to the bathroom more frequently. It has made a tremendous difference in her overall mood. I would definitely recommend this product
